On 30.11.23 we held the 5th Townhall where we announce the Mainnet launch date and showed a demo of JustPay wallet. Thanks for all your questions!
Below you can find a summary of most important questions answered:
Tagion Mainnet Launch
Q: When will the Tagion mainnet launch?
A: The Tagion mainnet launch will be on December 7th.
Q: When will super early investor payouts begin?
A: Super early investor payouts will begin 10 days after the mainnet launch.
Disaster Recovery
Q: What happens if a flaw is discovered one or two weeks later? Would a full rollback be needed?
A: A full rollback would not be needed. Tagion has backups in place and is testing disaster scenarios.
Q: Can you elaborate on the backup processes Tagion is running?
A: The system creates backups called “Records” each time there is a consensus round, or “epoch.” These Records contain instructions for the database, such as which records to create, delete, or update. These Records can be used to restore the database or roll back to a previous state.
Maintenance
Q: What updates require the network to shut down for maintenance?
A: Some updates, such as those that affect the protocols, may require network shutdowns. However, Tagion will strive to minimize shutdowns and only shut down when necessary.
Offline Data Capabilities
Q: How does Tagion’s offline data capability work? What are the benefits?
A: The system can create parallel databases using the Records mentioned earlier. This allows for switching between nodes without compromising data integrity.
Token Conversions
Q: When will conversions from fiat to Tagion be available?
A: Token conversions from fiat to Tagion will be available on centralized exchanges (CEXs) and decentralized exchanges (DEXs). Tagion is looking into making simple conversions with DEXs to start with.
Consensus Rules
Q: Can the consensus rules of the Tagion network be changed after the mainnet launch?
A: Yes, the consensus rules of the Tagion network can be changed by the community. This is common for all distributed ledger technology (DLT) systems.
Transaction Speed
Q: How fast will the Tagion network process transactions? Are there potential bottlenecks?
A: Transaction speed is limited by the speed of light and bandwidth. Tagion has optimized for these constraints. Bottlenecks can happen, but Tagion will create sub-ecosystems if necessary to alleviate them.
Wallet
Q: On what platforms will the Tagion wallet be available?
A: The Tagion wallet will be available on iOS, Android, and command-line interface (CLI).
Transaction Fees
Q: Will Tagion transaction fees be high?
A: No, Tagion transaction fees will be very cheap.
App Release
Q: When will the Tagion app be released?
A: The Tagion app will be released when the mainnet is live.
Support
Q: Will the Tagion team provide support for the app?
A: Yes, the Tagion team will provide support for the app. However, they cannot help with lost keys, as users are responsible for managing their own private keys.
